Some More Specs

Just saw this car at the Los Angeles Go Green Expo at the LA Convention Center. We learned it is rear-wheel drive, has a "targeted" 85 mi/charge range (LA4 city cycle), and 140 ft-lb of torque. The battery warranty is 8 yr/100K mi. It's available in ES or SE models. If Mitsubishi is able to hit their target price point, this car may be the first sub-$20K EV (after federal and CA rebates). They're going to have to at least come in a couple thousand below the LEAF.

I see it beat your target

In the event, the i came in around $6K less than the Leaf, closer to $8K if you compare least expensive configurations w/Level 3 charging. I think that's adequate compensation for giving up the Leaf's nicer interior, more settled high-speed demeanor, and gee-whiz Jetsons control pod ambiance (if one's willing to give up such niceties).

Availability

The i MiEV is also available for lease in Australia and has been since July. There were heaps at the motor show and I've seen two on the road.

Available

Now also available in Europe and coming to north America in november, so all those unsatisfied leaf customers can soon grab an "I" instead.
