Plug In Day: Honolulu

Date:
Sun, 10/16/2011 - 10:00am - 1:00pm

You've heard people talking about electric vehicles. You've seen the advertisements. Maybe you've even considered purchasing one.

Want to find out more? Show your support for electrical vehicles? Please join me at two Oahu tailgating parties on National Plug In Day -- an unprecedented nationwide celebration of the environmental, economic and other benefits of plug-in electric vehicles. On October 16, 2011, several current electrical vehicle owners will drive from Honolulu to Haleiwa to prove the practical range of the electrical vehicles. Join us at either the Haleiwa Farmer's Market or the "piano lot" next to the Children's Discovery Center in Kaakako to greet the electric cars as they complete their trip.

Each location will feature opportunities to interact with current electric vehicle owners and get your questions answered, in a fun and festive atmosphere. It'll be a good ol' fashioned tail gate (but without the tailpipes).

Electric vehicles will play a large role in Hawaii's clean energy future. Their wide-spread adoption could significantly reduce the millions of gallons of imported oil Hawaii brings in each year by tapping into Hawaii's abundant solar, wind, and other renewable energy resources. Please join me in helping spread the word.

Sincerely,
Robert Harris
