A party year for plug-in vehicles in 2010

Gelfand-invite2
I was going to blog this week about some 2010 resolutions for an EV-friendly world, but we’re already four days into the year, so forget that. Instead, let’s party!

We’ve got some good reasons to celebrate. This is the year that mass-production plug-in vehicles finally return to the market. In anticipation of that, two important events will take place this month.

Gelfand_office_inside-sm First is a benefit party for Plug In America on Thursday, Jan. 28 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the newly renovated offices of the sustainable architecture firm Gelfand Partners Architects. You’re invited! And if you can’t come to the party in San Francisco, you still can get in on the fun and support Plug In America by buying a raffle ticket. You don’t need to be present to win. Register or buy your raffle ticket here.

I’ll be hosting the party along with my friend Lisa Gelfand, who renovated a landmark building to be her firm’s new HQ and showcase for all things green in architecture. Join us on the cutting edge of both our worlds — LEEDing the Charge: Electric Vehicles and Efficient Buildings. (LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design as rated by the U.S. Green Building Council.)

Whole Foods SoMa is catering lots of yummy food. We’ll have tasty wine and some great beers donated by North Coast Brewing Company. (I’m particularly fond of their Red Seal Ale.) In the raffle, you could win a three-night stay at the Element Hotel in Las Vegas (which offers EV charging), a two-night stay at the Element Hotel in Houston, Tex., a two-hour electric bicycle rental from the Electric Bicycle Outlet in San Francisco, an hour of computer and tech support from MacCounsel, or other great prizes.

PHEV_bus_1-sm What’s a Plug In America party without a plug-in vehicle? Come see California’s first plug-in hybrid school bus (by IC Corp.), on loan to us from the Napa Valley Unified School District. So, get on the bus, and join the party!

Resource_Guide_Cover-sm But that’s not all. The party also will celebrate the second big EV-related event this month — the launch of Plug In America’s new consumer resource guide, Charged Up & Ready To Roll: The Definitive Guide to Plug-in Electric Vehicles. I’m hard at work now finishing the editing on this valuable book, which will be hot off the presses at the party. Join me at the party on Jan. 28, and you’ll get a free copy — and be one of the first to see it! I’ll post more about the guide later.

All for only a $25 donation to Plug In America, and you’ll be helping us accelerate the shift to plug-in electric vehicles. That’s a deal worth celebrating!
