Plug In America Co-Founder Blogs from Democratic National Convention
Blog Features Daryl Hannah, Rep. Jay Inslee (WA-01) on Zero-Emission Vehicles
AUG. 26, 2008–Plug In America co-founder, Paul Scott, is blogging this week from the Democratic National Convention where he and a group of clean-car supporters are advocating for plug-in vehicles with the Electric Vehicle Rolling Showcase. The blog is available at http://www.pluginamerica.org.
Plug In America is the nonprofit organization leading the nation’s plug-in vehicle movement. Its members will also be distributing materials at next month’s Republican National Convention.
Ten electric vehicles (EVs), including the Tesla Roadster, Toyota RAV4 EV, AC Propulsion eBox and a plug-in Toyota Prius make up the Electric Vehicle Rolling Showcase. Paul and the group, including Colorado Democratic Delegate Nathan Vanderschaaf, are giving rides in the cars to policy makers and the public. Their mission: to emphasize consumers' desire for EVs and show that they are a real solution to our energy and climate crisis. Their goal: to give presumptive Democratic nominee Sen. Barack Obama a ride in a silent, zero-emission EV.
Colette Divine, who starred with Paul in "Who Killed the Electric Car?" is with him in Denver and both are filming footage for the documentary’s sequel, "Revenge of the Electric Car."
Plug In America advocates the use of plug-in cars, trucks and SUVs powered by cleaner, cheaper, domestic electricity to reduce our nation's dependence on petroleum and improve the global environment. For more information: http://www.pluginamerica.org.
