RAV4 EV 100,000 Miles or More Club

We've always known that RAV4 EVs were a hardy and durable lot. How durable? These three privately owned RAV4 EVs have over 100,000 miles on their original NiMH battery pack. There are more out there, including in the Southern California Edison fleet. If you've got a high mileage EV, let us know about it.

Avi Hershkovitz has a 2002 RAV4 EV with an odometer reading of 131,500 miles!

Avi purchased his all-electric RAV4 EV (an SUV) to replace his GM-crushed EV1, and the car has performed beyond his expectations. During the work week he drives slightly over 100 miles for his daily commute with absolutely no repair or performance issues.

Avi's RAV4 EV experience offers compelling evidence that clearly counters Big Auto's fictional claim that "batteries just aren't there yet."

Mark Whitehead is another notable member of the 100,000 Miles or More Club with an odometer reading of 113,000 dependable miles on his 2003 RAV4 EV. Mark uses his ravishing electric RAV for a 43.5 mile one-way daily commute. This RAV's all-time distance record is 140.6 miles on a single charge, and he has actually driven 200 miles in one day with "intermediate charges along the way."

Mark and his RAV make a compelling example of what BEVs are capable of right now!

William Korthof, owner of Energy Efficiency Solar has driven 105,000 work and personal miles, using solar generated electricity, in his RAV4 EV. The car continues to demonstrate reliability on Southern California freeways while functioning as one of EE Solar's utility vehicles. This high-mileage electric RAV has had zero routine services, zero mechanical breakdowns, zero mechanical repairs, zero "strandings", zero electrical problems and it continues to travel 100-plus miles on a single charge. And of course, EE Solar creates the electricity for the car with the sun!
