According to Two Cents Per Mile author Nevres Cefo, Americans have been led to believe that they can't make a significant difference in much of anything once corporate and governmental interests are involved. Big oil and big automakers have historically counted on the false belief that we as American citizens cannot impact our transportation future. Cefo firmly believes that our transportation future resides on the electric highway; not the hydrogen highway and carefully backs that belief up with well-researched facts and figures. As oil becomes more scarce and the price of a gallon of gas continues to rise, an electrified future does seem plausible. But that future will only happen if, as President Obama states: ". . . the American people demand it --because they rise up and insist on new ideas and new leadership."
