About Plug-in Buses
Like the rest of the nation, school district administrators are looking for plug-in vehicles. They want plug-in school buses in order to save money and protect the health of their students, faculty and staff. Here are three suppliers on the cutting edge.
1) All-electric school bus:

Proterra's site says they're signing 12-year leases now. They're also partnering with San Jose's new Electronic Transportation Development Center (part of the Redevelopment Agency) to build this new light-weight electric bus with a solar roof array and a stand-by 100% biodiesel generator for "limp home" mode if needed.
2) Plug-in hybrid school bus:

Advanced Energy is a non-profit organization leading a collaborative effort to convert the U.S. school bus fleet to plug-in hybrids, partnering with Enova, IC Bus, and others.
3) Plug-in hybrid school bus conversions:

By: Hybrid Electric Vehicle Technologies (HEVT)
Hybrid Electric Vehicle Technologies is a start-up out of the Illinois Institute of Technology that plans a demonstration project with school buses converted to plug-in hybrids.
