Our Leadership
These are the people, often behind the scenes and at the front lines, leading our organization and supporting our mission.
President
Linda Nicholes worked for 28 years as a Superior Court Reporter in Orange County. She is a self-described environmental activist and past president of Earth Resource Foundation. Linda works to educate youth about the importance of electric transportation and transitioning to renewable energy sources. She has conducted frequent workshops for high school-aged youth and given presentations to high school classes and environmental organizations.
Vice President
Sherry Boschert is a journalist and author of the book Plug-in Hybrids: The Cars That Will Recharge America (New Society Publishers). She is president of the San Francisco Electric Vehicle Association and is a frequent speaker on the topics of plug-in vehicles and renewable energy. Past board experience includes being a director of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association.
Secretary
Richard Kelly is a programmer/analyst at the Irvine Ranch Water District where, in addition to his regular duties, he speaks about solar power and energy efficiency. He has driven electric vehicles exclusively for five years. With his background in computer science, he assists with IT services for Plug In America in addition to serving as secretary of the board.
Treasurer
Dan David's career spans oceanography, aviation, and software design. He is an active environmentalist promoting electric vehicles, solar power, sustainable building, and animal rights. He devotes much of his time to philanthropic and educational work in support of these causes.
Ron Freund has been the chairman of the national Electric Auto Association for over seven years and he has driven plug-in vehicles for more than a decade. His expertise is hardware engineering and training, and he's been a working engineer for his entire career. He served on two previous boards of directors in the field of education.
Legislative Director
Jay Friedland is managing partner of Cinemagic Partners Ltd, a consulting firm developing high technology ventures. A self-described serial entrepreneur, he has built successful companies as well as developing key industry alliances between companies both large and small. Jay is currently working with the new electric motorcycle startup, Zero Motorcycles. His environmental activism began in the 1970s and he is also president of the Central Coast Electric Auto Association.
Marc Geller is an advocate and writer in the area of public and corporate policy related to electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, and related source energy. He is on the board of directors of the Electric Auto Association and co-founded the association's San Francisco chapter, the San Francisco Electric Vehicle Association, as well as DontCrush.com and Plug In America.He blogs at plugsandcars.blogspot.com. He is the San Francisco Bay Area sales representative of Energy Efficiency Solar, an installer of solar photovoltaic systems for residences and businesses.
Mike Kane spent over 20 years as a marketing and business development professional in the high-tech industry, including stints at Emulex, the semiconductor division of Rockwell International and Motorola. Since leaving the industry in 2004 to pursue personal interests including environmental and alternative fuels advocacy, he has been involved with several non-profit organizations and campaigns in these areas. Mike is one of the founders of Plug In America, a non-profit advocacy group that promotes the use of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
Alexandra Paul is an actress living in Los Angeles. She was honored by the United Nations Environmental Program in 1997 for her work on overpopulation issues, and by Mikael Gorbachev's Global Green in 1997 for her environmental activism. In 2005, she was the ACLU of Southern California's Activist of the Year. Alexandra is on the board of Artists for a New South Africa as well as Plug In America. She has been driving electric cars for 18 years.
Communications Director
Zan Dubin Scott is president of ZDS Communications, a public relations and marketing agency specializing in environmental issues and enterprises. She founded the company after a decade as a staff writer with The Los Angeles Times, for which she continues to write. She is on the board of Green Depot, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising public awareness and use of renewable energy sources including biodiesel, solar and wind power.
Paul Scott is a founding member of Plug In America and a long-time EV driver and advocate for renewable energy. Paul has worked in the film business for most of his career while keeping involved as a population activist and environmental activist. Paul currently works for SolarCity, California's largest residential solar installer. Paul also is the president of the Electric Vehicle Association of Southern California.
